Madagascar, the 4th largest island in the world offers unique nature and fauna

Madagascar is an island state located in the Indian Ocean, 400 kilometres from Mozambique on Africa´s east coast. Covering an area of 590,000 sq. km., the main island, also called Madagascar, is the fourth largest island in the world. It became separated from the African continent millions of years ago. Its population is a blend of African and Indonesian descendants. It is home to five percent of the world´s plant and animal species, of which 80 percent are unique to the island. Among the most notable examples of biodiversity are the primitive primates – lemurs, three endemic bird species (found only here), and the baobab tree. The most common language spoken in Madagascar is Malagasy.
