The Bodegas de la Ardosa

The Bodegas de la Ardosa (name derived from the Toledo wine region) owes their success to its founder, Rafael Fernández, who opened a chain of wine merchants in late 19th century. Despite more than thirty of them being opened, four survived to this day. The bodega once overflowed with customers wanting to buy wine in demijohns and bottles but changed its focus in 1979 when new legislation prohibited such sales–instead only serving beer. Today the bodega serves great tapas and exquisite Czech beer that has won acclaim around the world.
