Honduras – how to get an affordable and supreme vacation experience
Honduras is the second-largest country in Central America and is generally known to be a “travel destination”, but there are areas that are quite safe as described below. For others, such as backpackers, divers, globetrotters, and first movers, the country is a really good travel bid in the broader sense. Honduras means “depths” and refers to the deep Caribbean Sea, which itself named Columbus in 1502. It is with travel eyes a rough diamond: Not many tourists here and lots to experience and amazing scenery, and incredibly cheap can be done. The best diving is in the Bay Islands. They consist of Roatan, as we describe below, Utila and Guanaja, which all three are part of the Mesoamerican Barrier Reef. Utila may have the best diving sites in Honduras and is even the cheapest! But Roatan is the hippest place.

Roatan is the largest and most developed of the so-called Bay Islands. The island was a well-kept secret for a long time, but now the large cruise ships are visiting the island, and it is generally an exciting destination, and still a spot-on dive site for both Scuba divers and snorkeling. There is also the possibility of sea fishing or spearfishing for divers. The coral reefs are impressive and in fine shape. The countryside is mountainous and definitely worth a trip. But more than anything else, the place is known for its beautiful beaches. It’s purely Bounty country. One of the best beaches is called West Bay Beach. This part of Honduras is very safe as a tourist destination.

The Climate in Honduras
About the climate in general in Honduras: the Best season is probably April and May when the weather is warm and dry. The rainy season runs from July to January, and some rain falls from October to early January. You can expect to see sharks all year round, but February to April is the high season for shark safaris.

Exceptional (cheap) diving holidays to Honduras
Honduras is not only known for its exceptional diving sites but also low diving prices. If you are interested in a cheap diver certificate from a reputed organization such as the PADI (Professional Association of Diving Instructors), then this is the place. But of course, you have some bigger travel expenses. There is a bit far away from Europe, Asia, and the United States. The Bay Islands are where it happens. They are located in the southwestern Caribbean about 48 kilometers north of Honduras. It is a unique reef system that draws divers all over the world. As mentioned, it is the world’s second largest reef system and the two islands of Roatan and Utila are where you should dive first. There are good chances to see manta, turtles, sharks, and whales, especially from February to April. It is said that reefs are more diverse than rainforests. So each island has its own underwater biodiversity. Mary’s Place is the best known diving site in Honduras. Here you can see black corals or the shipwreck El Aguila (the eagle).
