Slovenia is a member of the EU, Schengen and NATO, so although it may be a little unfamiliar to most, it is a safe and exciting destination to visit. It is often confused with Slovakia which Traveltalk.dk will also feature on our site.
The country is central- located in Europe between the Balkans and Central Europe in the eastern Alps, and runs along the northern coast of the Adriatic. It borders Austria, Italy, Hungary and Croatia. Despite its modest size, this country ”controls” some of the most important transit routes that cross Central Europe.
Previously, the country was one of the 6 republics that made up Yugoslavia, but it became independent in 1991. Today, it is a strong and developing young nation, and a successful democracy.
