You quickly notice that you are in the Caribbean as soon as you step out of the plane and the temperature is certainly on the right side of 25 degrees, thanks to the tropical climate. Soon after, you will see the long, white palm-filled beaches. The turquoise sea has an average temperature range of 26-28 degrees, and the coral reefs are perfect for snorkeling and diving. There are also diving and snorkeling courses.
As in the whole of the Caribbean, you hear riveting dance music everywhere – on the beach, from the bars, in shops and in taxis. In the Dominican Republic, it is especially merengue and bachata that you love to wiggle your hips. The joy of life is contagious and it is difficult not to fall in love with the population, with its mixed origin from both Africa, Europe, the United States and Asia.
A distance from the coast, rainforest mountains, waterfalls and sugarcane plantations await. We recommend an excursion to the capital Santo Domingo, the oldest city in the Caribbean, with churches and palaces from the first time of the Spanish in the New World. In the cozy colonial neighborhoods, the atmosphere is high among food stalls, clubs and music bars.
