East Timor untouched by tourism
East Timor (Timor Leste), oh what is it and where is it? Yes, it’s an exotic and quite unknown country that you find on the way to Australian from Indonesia (see the map). Then you pull the parachute and that’s where the adventure starts. Thankfully, the trip can also be made less dramatic and in comfortable fashion.
East Timor is a hidden gem with amazing and untouched natural beauty. Its territory is only 270 km long and 75 km wide. East Timor is the epitome of beautiful beaches, tropical forests and large mountain ranges. A destination that is almost untouched by human hands and ideal for ecotourism. But Timor is also a mysterious soul with a unique story and a strange culture that is waiting to be discovered.
East Timor is a magical place
Someone once said that East Timor is like “a great mountain.” In fact, wherever you go, you have to climb up and down the hill valleys. From Dili to Maubisse you have to climb, zigzag down a path that is welded down between an abyss and impressive heights of mountain ranges that separate north from the south: Ainaro district, however, from the village of Hato Builico, where reaches the top of Tata Mai Lau, the highest point of Ramelau (2960 meters). The low dark green mangrove areas are replaced by blue crystal clear waters in Metinaro Beach, approx. 30 km from the capital. Later comes Baucau and in the distance 1,000 of palm trees.
A landscape of great beauty located in the eastern tip of Timor lies the Lautém district. Tutuala, on the other hand, is an enchanting beach hidden behind the dense vegetation when the beach breaks into the light and with a harbor with the clearest water from which the fishermen go to the desert island Jaco. There is also a reserve for turtles. The Timor believes that this is a magical place and retains the small, unspoiled island. This is merely an overview of the place and a little taste of East Timor’s magic.
