The 2023 Italian Grand Prix: Speeding Through Monza

Ferrari’s pair were left to do battle for a podium spot, Sainz holding on after another race in which no one could handle Red Bull. With Lewis Hamilton looming over Fernando Alonso’s shoulder after a creditable sixth place, Red Bull’s closest challenger Fernando Alonso fell 194 points behind Verstappen.

Hamilton, 38, trails Alonso by six points despite a challenging weekend in his Mercedes, with which he announced a two-year contract extension on Thursday. Hamilton failed to win or claim pole at any Grand Prix last season, and he appears far from adding to his 103 race victories.
