Emmy awards!

The third season of Netflix’s The Crown received an impressive selection of nominations, including the critical ‘Unique Drama Series’. Norwich-born actress Olivia Coleman also received a nomination for the coveted ‘Outstanding Leading Actress in a Drama Series Award’ for her role as Her Majesty the Queen, while co-star Helena Bonham Carter was nominated for ‘Most Prominent Female Supporting Role in a Drama Series’ for her dramatic portrayal of Princess Margaret.

The drama-filled series has visited many different locations across the UK, to create the monarchy-based masterpiece, including the historic Caernarfon Castle in Wales, Belvoir Castle in Leicestershire and West Wycombe Park in Buckinghamshire. There was also a small collection of magnificent sites used as a replacement for the iconic Buckingham Palace, such as Lancaster House (just a stone’s throw from the royal residence itself), Salisbury’s Wilton House and Greenwich’s Old Royal Naval College which was used for external film footage. Another of the series’ unforgettable moments was the funeral of Winston Churchill; although the story on this occasion had taken place in St. Paul’s Cathedral, Winchester Cathedral was also used as a filming location for the gloomy recordings.
